6 Stages of “the Change”
1. In the AWARENESS stage, you notice the changes in your body, mind and spirit. There is a sense of urgency to experience life more authentically and to its fullest. You begin to reflect on your past and reevaluate your priorities. You're less willing to devote time to a job without meaning or an unhealthy, unfulfilling relationship. You might begin to let go of people, places and things that no longer feel like a “fit” in your life. You get in touch with your own mortality and the fleeting nature of life.
3. The CRISIS stage is an emotional time of putting the past behind you. This stage feels very much like a “death and rebirth” experience. You know you have to let go of the “old you” but you haven’t yet embraced the “new you”. You’re in the void. It’s scary and you can feel totally out of control. You may be angry, nostalgic and even depressed. Regrets and/or "what-ifs" haunt you. Losses that haven’t been grieved and unhealed wounds demand to be addressed. Do your best to avoid “it’s just my hormones” thoughts which can leave those unhealed wounds continuing to crave your attention. Surrender to them.
2. The REEVALUTION stage is a time for personal reflection - an opportunity for exploring your changing values, priorities and to ask deep, introspective questions about your life. Your intuition brings insights (trust them) and you crave for more time alone. You seek meaningful friendships with people who can share your life on an intimate, authentic level. You strive for understanding and the meaning of life. In this stage, you realize that to be healthy, happy and whole, you must disrupt the status quo and make changes in your life.
4. In the VISION stage you begin to feel a renewed sense of energy and enthusiasm. You feel more focused and alive. Your authentic self is emerging. You question yourself less. You feel motivated and inspired to start a new project, a class, a career or a relationship. You feel as if an inner voice is saying, "This is who I am". Use your insights from the reevaluation stage to formulate a new vision for your life and begin to take action.
5. The ACTION stage is when you feel energized and focused. You want to be out in the world, to be a part of something with meaning and purpose. You find you have more fun and are more playful than before. Your self-esteem is blossoming. You know what to do to take of yourself and you do it. You feel good about who you are as a person and are fully engaged in your own life.
6. The Birthing the WISE WOMAN stage has finally arrived. You have taken a journey through the darkness and arrived whole and complete. You are spiritually renewed. Lessons have been learned. You’ve released the old, outworn aspects of the self and opened your heart, mind and soul to a fresh new beginning. You’re hopeful and proactive. You experience a sense of inner peace and personal empowerment. The wholeness you feel from within manifests outwardly. You’ve embraced your authentic self and want to share yourself with the world.
