The signs and symptoms of your changing hormones

can begin long before you might expect them.

Perimenopause can begin in your 30’s and span 15 years or more. As the end of your child bearing years approach, progesterone levels begin to drop, disrupting the fine balance between this vital hormone and estrogen. Thus, estrogen becomes  unopposed and in excess. “Estrogen dominance”, is what’s behind your heavy periods, tender breasts, mood swings, fibroids, cysts and many other symptoms of ‘the change’.

Ours is the first generation to experience extreme estrogen dominance due to endocrine disrupting, estrogen mimicking chemicals in our environment, foods, household cleaning products and personal care products. The symptoms of estrogen dominance often result in a prescription for “the pill”. And, unfortunately, there are still far too many unnecessary hysterectomies performed for fibroids and cysts.

 Signs of Estrogen Dominance

·   Heavy, prolonged periods

·   Breast cell stimulation (fibrocystic breasts)

·   Uterine fibroids

·   Ovarian cysts

·   Endometriosis

·   Increased body fat and weight gain

·   Salt and fluid retention

·   Impaired blood sugar control

·   Depression

·   Anxiety

·   Headaches and migraines

·   Poor sleep patterns and insomnia

·   Impaired thyroid hormone function

·   Reduced oxygen levels in all cells

As estrogen levels drop (closer to actual menopause) and/or progesterone cream is introduced, symptoms begin to subside. Cysts and fibroids typically shrink and often disappear over time. Heavy, prolonged periods come less frequently, and of course, in time your periods will become more irregular before stopping altogether.

Avoiding Estrogen Dominance

It’s inevitable that you’ll experience some degree of estrogen dominance during the years leading to menopause. However, there are also ways to avoid excess estrogens and to reduce your risk of estrogen related health concerns.

·   Avoid soy products. Wait until closer to actual menopause to use them.

·   Use Organic Excellence progesterone cream without phytoestrogens.

·   Avoid potent herbal phytoestrogens until closer to actual menopause.

·   Switch to hormone-free meat and dairy products to avoid estrogens.

·   Eliminate endocrine disrupters from your personal care products.

·   Avoid plastics. Do not heat and/or freeze foods in plastic containers.

The Benefits of Natural Progesterone Cream

Progesterone is important for your biological balance, well being and overall good health. While your body will produce estrogens throughout your lifetime (even if you no longer have your ovaries), progesterone levels will drop below those of men.

Progesterone cream is extremely helpful in perimenopause. But, not just any cream. Believe me, there are some pretty bad ones out there! I only recommend Organic Excellence. It’s available in some health food stores and you can order it here. Not only does it help relieve symptoms, it boasts great health benefits for the years ahead.

“How wonderful to have this knowledge to share with my daughter, and friends  -  most of whom still shudder at the word "Menopause". The negative tales that have been passed down from generation to generation have so many women blinded.
